GREAT LAKES CHENNAI ORGANIZES 4th ANNUAL GLOBAL CONVENTION OF ENTREPRENEUR CAFÉ AT CAMPUS

Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai organized the 4th Annual Global Convention (AGC) 2018 of Entrepreneur Cafe – one of its kind, #24hournonstop conference at its ECR Campus on 8th – 9th Dec. The two day conference, set on the theme – ‘Disruptive Entrepreneurship in Amazing India (AI)’ in collaboration with TiE, FICCI and Ivy Next, begin with lighting of the lamp ceremony and honoring the guests.
Chief Guest Shri. M. K. Pandiarajan, Minister of Tamil Language, Tamil Culture and Archaeology, Government of Tamil Nadu and Founder, Mafoi Management Consultants delivered the keynote address, followed by Shri Suresh Krishna, Chairman, Sundram Fasteners Limited, Shri. R Ramanan, Additional Secretary and Mission Director – Atal Innovation Mission Shri. Dharmendra Pratap Yadav, IAS, Principal Secretary, MSME, Govt. Of Tamil Nadu delivering the special address.
Welcoming the gathering, Dr Bala V Balachandran, Founder, Dean & Chairman, Great Lakes Institute of Management said, “We are thrilled to host the first of its kind, a 24 hour nonstop conference exclusively for entrepreneurs and startup community in our lush green campus. With our latest offering in AIMLA, we are glad to bring a Global level forum that will provide a great opportunity for enthusiasts as well as student entrepreneurs to learn and exchange ideas, get updated on latest tech disruptions and innovations.”

Dr. Nikhil Agarwal, Founder – Entrepreneur Café set context to theme and addressed, “We are happy to have associated with Dr. Bala and Great Lakes Chennai for the Annual Global Convention of ECafe. This 24hour nonstop event is an excellent platform for founders, investors and students as it will allow them to mingle, analyze, network with the entrepreneurship ecosystem at global level. The convention will be featuring Startup Awards to appreciate the innovations and technology advancement by local entrepreneurs, industrialists and startups whose contributions towards the society and organization is incredible but goes unnoticed.”

The inaugural also witnessed Dr. Tom Simon, Managing Director, The Babson Collaborative, Babson College, USA and Dr. Bala V Balachandran, Founder, Dean & Chairman Great Lakes Institute of Management, India, signing an MoU between Babson College, Massachusetts, USA and Great Lakes Institute of Management that intends to foster and facilitate a mutually beneficial collaboration between the institutions in the areas such as (i) student programs through capstone entrepreneurial leadership learning experience, (ii) faculty programs through Symposium of Entrepreneurship Educators to develop faculty to teach entrepreneurship, (iii) family entrepreneurship programs.
The AGC of Entrepreneur Café is considered as one of the largest entrepreneurial event in the world. This year’s edition consisted of 40+ speakers and 100+ delegates across various panel discussions organized in significance to the theme.
The panel topics for the first day consisted of ‘Master Class: What is the fuss about New Tech?, ‘Data is the new OIL: Opportunities In Digital economy’, ‘Old School Vs New School: Interactive, Intelligent and Adaptive Technology’, ’The future beyond tomorrow’ that included speakers from diverse backgrounds such as Mr. V Shankar, President, TiE Chennai, and Mr. Shailendra Tipparaju, CTO Examity, Dr. T. N. Swaminathan, Director – Branding & Public Relation & Professor of Marketing, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, Mr. Mike Muralidharan (Bahwan Cybertek and Chairman of Ethiraj College, Chennai), Dr. Sunil Rai, Vice Chancellor, MIT ADT University, Dr. DN Pandey, Director, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Mr. Giridhar Gadiraju, Founder, Venusgeo, Mr. Praveen Maheshwari, Founder and CEO, Transcendi, UK, Mr. Sumit Ganguli, CEO, GavsTech, Mr. Prasad Kulkarni, VP, Accelya and the likes.
This was followed by an interesting session on where young entrepreneurs below 16 years of age took part and exchanged ideas. Mr. Krishiv Agarwal (age 13), Mr. Ishan Gangabasi (age 10), and Ms. Surbhi Kashyap (age 14) were the speakers and were moderated by Ms. Malti Lakhani, CEO, Kaizen Learning.
The evening was open to networking and campus walk followed by ‘After hours Bonfire’ where delegates, speakers along with Great Lakes students hung out and shared start-up stories. Post a power nap, the second day of the 4th AGC begin with ‘Power breakfast with CEOs’ followed by ‘Amazing New Ideas of Amazing India’, ‘Disruptive Entrepreneurship: What India can learn and what others can learn from India!’ and a special session on ‘Master class: Story of a humble Agarbatti’. The speakers list included Mr. CK Kumarvale, Founder, Naturals, Mr. Bhardesh Mehta, Mehta Real Estate, Mr. Sudhir Kumar, Executive Director, Garments Pvt. Limited, Mr. Sachin Itkar, Sr Program Advisor, Strategic Foresight Group and Mr. Amit Agarwal, Senior Partner, BDO Worldwide, Ms. Durga Das, MD, Das Star Ventures amongst others.
The 24hournonstop conference concluded with Startup Awards and on the sidelines, the convention also provided an opportunity for entrepreneurs to showcase their business, meet experts, investors, and mentors.
