Soccer Breaks Boundaries Shankara Buildpro Soccer for Child Rights spreads awareness on importance of education
Child Rights and You (CRY) one of India’s leading NGO’s working on child rights organized a soccer tournament “Shankara Buildpro Soccer for Child Rights to spread awareness on the importance of sports as a facilitator of education, a combination that is crucial for setting a strong foundation of a child’s future. Mr. M.S. Muthusamy I.P.S, Deputy Commissioner of Police supported the cause with his presence.
The event was organized at the YMCA Nandanam, Chennai where 15 corporate teams and one team from the Vyasarpadi Children’s Empowerment Project battled it out. The soccer field not only witnessed some intense matches between the corporate heavy weights but also brought forth discussions around critical child rights issues, as everyone seemed to have a common dream – one of all children having a happy and healthy childhood.
“The event was played with great spirit. Such events are true testimony of the power of sports to influence the child in making the right choices. Such events allow us to take the conversation to a larger audience. It is our earnest effort to reach the last child” said Suma Ravi, Regional Director (South), CRY, while
“I would like to congratulate every team who participated in the event and supported the cause. People who took part in the event went back sensitized on issues that children from the marginalized sector face.
