VELAMMAL’S FOLK ART FESTIVAL – 2017
Velammal, renowned for its excellence in all round education and discipline was started in the year 1986, inspired by the wisdom of Smt. Velammal, a noble lady and pursued with passion by Shri. M.V.Muthuramalingam, the founder Chairman of Velammal Educational Trust. VelammalVidyalaya, a CBSE School at Alapakkam, located in the heart of the city was started this year. Its holistic approach to inculcate self confidence in children makes all round learning a part of its curriculum. We have also invited eminent personalities to motivate our students such that we believe if students are shown their “ROLE MODEL”, they definitely follow them and become a real hero in their life time. Some of the Eminent Personalities who have visited our institution are His Excellency Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Former Prime Minister Shri. H.D.DeveGowda, Dr. R.Chidhambaram, Dr. K.Kasturirangan, Dr. M.S.Swaminathan, Shri. Rakesh Sharma, Shri. T.N Seshan, Shri. KapilDev, Shri. Shivkhera, Shrimathi. P.T Usha,Shri. DhanrajPillai, Shri. Highlights of the day :
The celebrities presided over the function in order to save our culture Various performances from various villages of about 200 Folk Artists along with the celebrities of cultural heritage embellished the campus.
The amount which was collected through the sale of tickets will be contributed to the farmers for a noble cause.
Various Food Stalls displayed the traditionalistic culture of Healthy foods which was a wondrous delight for taste buds and a feast to our eyes. The Traditional games were showcased to the visitors & students.The spotlight of the event is to inculcate Healthy Food Lifestyle &to bring back the Traditional Values.This event was a tremendous platform for the folk artists to rejuvenate & rejoice for two days (28.01.2017 & 29.01.2017) which was an excellent moment of honour for the entire folk artists & their team.
