Hindustan University Awarded QS 3 stars ratings today in Chennai
Chennai, April 22, 2017 – Hindustan University, Chennai, India has emerged as one
of the first few universities in India to be accredited QS 3 stars rating. It is a milestone
in the annals of the institution as it celebrates its Golden Jubilee this year. QS Stars is a
rating system which allows students to get a wider picture of an institution’s qualities,
looking at everything from the employability of graduates, to sports facilities and
community engagement. The QS Stars audit evaluates an institution against over 50
different indicators, and awards universities between one and five + stars over eight
wider fields, as well as an overall rating.
Hindustan University was assessed by the QS audit team and it involved more than 50
indicators. The institution achieved 5 star ratings in areas of Teaching, Employability,
Facilities, Innovation and Inclusiveness
The Ceremonial Presentation of QS 3Stars Certificate to Hindustan University was held
today, 22 nd April 2017. The certification was by Mr. Ashwin Fernandez, Regional
Director, QS, Singapore to Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Verghese, Chancellor, Hindustan
University in the presence of other dignitaries such as Dr. Aby Sam, Director and Mr.
Ashok Verghese, Director, Dr. G. Illavazhagan, Vice Chancellor, In charge and Dr.
PonRamalingam, Registrar, Hindustan University.
Dr. Aby Sam, Director, welcomed the audience. Dr. Mrs Elizabeth Verghese, gave the
inaugural address and she informed that at this juncture when Hindustan Group of
Institutions is celebrating its golden jubilee year , it is a proud moment to realize that
the institution has obtained QS 3 star rating after a rigorous QS audit by international
ranking organization. The institution aspires to be World class Research University and
it would soon achieve QS 5 star ratings.
Mr. Ashwin Fernandes, Regional Director, QS Quacquarelli Symonds, congratulated
Hindustan University for its glorious achievement and was happy to note that Hindustan
University has been one of the few universities in India that achieved this milestone. He emphasized the need for going for evaluation since the institutions should go for world
rankings. Nowadays more universities and governments were looking for ways to raise
their profile in the international higher education community, and seeking data that
could help with global-level benchmarking. He applauded the management, staff and
students for their concerted efforts for achieving this milestone. After his captivating
speech, Mr. Ashwin presented the QS stars certificate to Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Verghese,
Chancellor, Hindustan University.
