Honorary consulate of Kazakhstan opened in Chennai
Chennai, April 26, 2017:The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in India was
inaugurated today by H.E. Mr. Bulat Sarsenbayev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to India along with
H.E. Mr. Suraj Shantakumar, Honorary consul of Kazakhstan in Chennai. To mark the occasion a
celebratory dinner was hosted with diplomats and renowned business heads. Hon'ble Mr. Justice
R.K. Agarwal, Judge, Supreme Court of India graced the occasion.
India and Kazakhstan have completed 25 years of its diplomatic ties and both the countries are
looking forward to developing and widen engagement in existing as well as new areas which will be
of mutual value. The Honorary Consul will assist citizens of Kazakhstan in the region and promote
commercial and cultural relations between Kazakhstan and India
H.E. Mr. Bulat Sergazyuly Sarsenbayev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to India said, “Kazakhstan
shares a very strong relationship with India, and I am confident that Mr. Suraj would help advance
efforts of the Embassy in building a stronger relationship between the two countries especially in
the field of education, investment, trade and tourism.”
While addressing the guests, the Ambassador also focused on such projects and major events held
by Kazakhstan as an ATOM project, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit and
Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and also discussed on the international specialized
exhibition EXPO-2017.
