Table Tennis Super League (TTSL -2019) – Tamil Nadu to be held between 22nd February 2019 and 24th February 2019 Chennai at VR CHENNAI

After the success of the Table Tennis Super League (TTSL-2017), the much-awaited Table Tennis Super League – 2019 (TTSL-2019) organized by Indusports Leagues India LLP. under the auspices of TNTTA is scheduled to be played in Chennai from February 22nd to 24th, 2019 at the VR CHENNAI, Annangar.

Tamil Nadu’s top table tennis players will showcase their skills and talent while representing their respective franchise-based teams during the 3-day event. This is the second edition of the TTSL and the matches will certainly be very competitive and exciting.

The auction proceedings for TTSL -2019 were inaugurated by Arjuna award winners Mr. Subramaniam Raman and Mr. Sathyan Gnanasekaran in GRT Grand, T Nagar.

A total of 8 teams will be participating in the TTSL-2019 and the team formation and selection of players was done by a ‘Players Auction’ which was conducted in the presence of the technical committee and the organizing committee of TNTTA. 60 players, divided into 6 categories on the basis of their age categories i.e Men, Women, Junior Boys, Junior Girls, Cadet Boys and Veterans went under the hammer at the auction. The best among the 60 players were picked by the owners of the eight franchisees that will feature in the Table Tennis Super League.

Rajesh emerged the highest paid players, going for Rs 60,000. He was followed by V. Nitin Thiruvengadam, who was bought for Rs 58,000. Among the women, T. Reeth Rishya commanded the highest prize of Rs 33,000, Seraha Jacob was the second highest, bought for Rs 32,000.

Among the junior girls, Sharmitha and Kowshika Venkatesan were the most in demand, going for Rs 31,000 and Rs 25,500 respectively. Balamurugan went for 29,000 in the Cadet Category.

The 8 teams will be divided into 2 groups of 4 each. Each team will play all other teams in their respective group once and the top 2 teams from each group will qualify for the Semi-Finals and the winners will play the Finals.

Each team tie will consist of 9 matches and all the 9 matches have to be played in the group stage as each match won has points. The men player will play 3 matches (1 singles & 2 doubles), women will play 2 matches (1 Singles & 1 doubles), Junior Boys – 2 matches (1 singles & 1 doubles), Junior Girls – 2 matches (1 singles & 1 doubles), Cadet Boys – 1 match (1 singles), Veterans – 2 matches (1 singles & 1 doubles).
