65-member South African Tourism Trade Delegation visits Chennai

Indian Traveller Spend In South Africa Crosses Zar 1.1billion In 2016; Notched Up To 8th Ranking International Arrivals Market

South African Tourism noted an increased length-of-stay, average spend and an overall increase in arrivals from India in 2016 .

MUMBAI, 31 JANUARY 2017: Even amidst demonetisation woes and a generally gloomy travel outlook towards the third quarter of last year, the Indian market has shown good numbers for South Africa during 2016. The destination closed 2016 on a successful note, noting a 27% growth in arrivals that clocked at 81,429 by the end of the third quarter.

Stats tell a positive story: Overall spendsfrom India crossed an astounding ZAR 1,100,000,000 by the end of the third quarter and average spend per leisure traveller was placed at INR 590,000 (approx. ZAR 150,000) indicating that destination South Africa attracts a variety of pocket-sizes. Market intelligence delivered by trade partners tells the tourism board that the destination sells to travellers with an INR 1.5 lakh budget as effectively as it appeals to travellers with 10.5 lakh budget.“We want to sustain this growth and also attract return travellers. Going forward, we are going to focus on increasing the geographical scope of the market – our biggest sources are Mumbai and Delhi, followed by Bangalore and Chennai,” said Hanneli Slabber, country manager, South African Tourism– India. The average number of nights spent by Indian tourists in South Africa is now at 11 days for holidays and 19 days for business travellers. Slabber added, “I reckon that they’re taking some time off to explore South Africa after the conclusion of their work in SA.  VFR is at 21 days average stay.”

Trends indicate market evolution and high potential:Holiday choices are increasingly experiential i.e. there has been a marked shift from seeing to experiencing. Indians are signing up for adventurous activities like the world’s highest bridge bungee, shark-cage diving and skydiving, idyllic experiences like Boma dinners and tours of loyal vineyards and an interest in history, culture and local lifestyle in addition to South Africa’s world-famous trademark wild-life experiences. The fact that Indian travellers are delving deeper, exploring wider and also making second and third visits to the destination works conveniently in line with South Africa’s recently launched a campaign – wow in every moment – that has kicked off earlier this year. “Indian travellers are becoming very aware of their personal tastes and often even within a family or group of friends who travel together, there are multiple preferences. This campaign showcases our ability to surpass the expectations of every segment and every type of traveller. It also entices repeat visitors by reminding them that there is so much more to see, feel, taste and experience in South Africa.” Slabber added.

2017 will focus on ‘wow in every moment’:The global campaign will be rolled out in India through joint marketing campaigns with travel agents, a brand-new Facebook page (Visit South Africa India), television and outdoor advertising campaigns. “When travellers to South Africa were asked where they first heard about us nearly 30% said online (articles and social media combined). We knew it was time to start talking to India via Facebook,” Slabber explained. The Facebook page and all other campaigns will be tailored for India.Travel agents will also undergo destination training and all the aspects that make South Africa amazing through a 17-city Learn SA programme slated for mid-2017.

South Africa hopes to cash in on cricket connect:According to a statement by Cricket South Africa, India and Australia will both tour for four-Test series in late 2017 and early 2018. “We eagerly await confirmation on India’s tour of South Africa because it will mean a huge surge in visitor numbers,” Slabber concluded.

EMO Hannover 2017 once again a trend forum for production technology

Chennai, 24 January 2017; 2017 is an EMO year. The world’s premier trade fair

for the metalworking sector will be held in Hanover from 18th to 23rd

September 2017, announced key speakers Mr. Christoph Miller, Managing Director

EMO Hannover at VDW, Frankfurt, and Dr. Andreas Gruchow, Member of the Board,

Deutsche Messe AG, at a press conference in Chennai. The trade fair showcases

the trends and innovations in the field of production technology.

EMO Hannover is being organised by the VDW (German Machine Tool Builders’

Association), Frankfurt am Main, Germany, on behalf of the European Association of

the Machine Tool Industries (CECIMO) from Brussels, Belgium, and in conjunction

with the trade fair hosting company Deutsche Messe AG, Hanover, Germany. VDW

is one of the few sectoral organisations that holds international trade fairs on its own

account for the segment it represents.

EMO Hannover scores highly in terms of the sheer size, internationality and the

number of innovations. Over 1,700 firms from 40 different countries have signed up

for this year’s trade fair, with more than 150,000 square metres of net exhibition

area. There are over 400 exhibitors from Asia alone. “The current registration status

is significantly above the comparable figure for the previous event,” says Miller,

Trade Fair Director, VDW.

The trade fair aims to engage in the discourse of manufacturing production

technology from all over the world, showing what solutions exist for generating

maximised customer benefits from the digitisation and networking of production

operations. It also aims to improve the competitiveness of machine tool vendors with

new solutions.

“The EMO Hannover is not only the most important meeting point for all players in

the metalworking sector, both manufacturers and users. It is traditionally seen as an

innovation forum and a trend-setter as it addresses important issues in the world of

metalworking, and drives them forward,” Miller says. A wide and varied supporting

programme will take place this year, addressing technical and commercial issues.

The paramount topics of discussion in the international world of production

technology are digitisation and networking as the EMO’s motto communicates.

Mechanical sturdiness, dependable components, reliable machinery control systems,

plus intelligent process design and control—these are the foundations for quality,

productivity and cost-efficient manufacturing. A broad spectrum of different machines

for this purpose will be showcased at the EMO Hannover as well as classical

performance features to approaches for new capabilities.

‘India Day’ at the EMO Hannover 2017

Currently, India is the only BRIC nation to report significant growth in industrial

production output and capital investment. In the machine tool industry, the country

ranks 8th among the world’s largest markets, with a volume of most recently 1.6

billion euros in 2015, which corresponds to a growth rate of 7 per cent when

calculated in euros.

The EMO Hannover 2017 will focus on this attractive, high-potential market. The

“India Day” on 20th September 2017 will feature reports exclusively from Indian

experts, including representatives of the machine tool federation IATMA.

Representatives from Indian user sectors will be addressing technical and

commercial trends from the automotive and aviation industries.

India’s economy is targeting growth

India’s economy is currently growing faster than other industrial countries. The

manufacturing sector contributes only 15 per cent to the nation’s GDP and hence

there is enormous potential for growth. The Union government aims to upsize the

reserves with its “Make in India” campaign, and with the aid of capital investment

from abroad.

India also produces its own machine tools. With 622 million euros in 2015, the

country ranks 12 th among the most important manufacturing nations. Indian

exhibitors have already registered for the EMO Hannover 2017, keen to showcase

their range of machinery for high-ranking international production experts from the

global elite. Companies participating include Jyoti, ACE Designers, Forbes &

Company, and many more.

“Indian manufacturers need comprehensive information on new solutions for

their production operations. Exhibitors at the EMO Hannover 2017 will include

representatives from all important vendor nations for India’s industrial sector,” says

Christoph Miller of the VDW. On 20th September 2017, experts will be reporting on

technical and commercial trends in India and mapping out the resultant challenges

for production technology. The EMO Hannover 2017 will provide numerous specific

stimuli for the practical use of new solutions meeting every need, under widely

varying preconditions.

About Benelli
As often happens, the history of great industries is born in garages. In our case this is the Benelli
Garage”, Where, in 1911, the 6 Benelli brothers Giuseppe, Giovanni, Francesco, Filippo, Domenico
and Antonio, known as “Tonino”, repaired and manufactured motorcycle parts. In 1921 the
‘Velomotore’ was created: a single cylinder two stroke 75cc bike adapted to a bicycle frame and
the following year it was the turn of the 98cc ‘Motoleggera’, immediately appreciated by the
public of that time. The first real Benelli motorcycle, a 175cc model, ridden by Tonino, proved
immediately to be a winner in the world of competition. Here began a long list of glorious
moments, with more than 1000 victories in the Italian and European Championships and two
World Titles won in 1950 and 1969. Many legendary riders have ridden Benelli motorcycles.
Besides Tonino, the owner of the company, the Italian riders Ambrosini, Grassetti, Campanelli,
Provini, Pasohni, Villa and the internationals Saarinen, Hailwood and Carruthers.
At the end of the 60’s the last motorcycle of the family owned company was born; the Tornado
650 which developed 50 hp at 7000 rpm, and easily surpassed 170 km/h. Later the first
ownership change took place, but motorcycle production continued in Pesaro with the ground
breaking in line 6 cylinder 750 and 900cc Sei’s which were manufactured up until the early
1980’s. In 2001 the production of the first all new in-line triple powered range began, with the
fully faired supersport Tornado 899cc Limited Edition. The addition of the Tornado Naked Tre or
TNT for short, and subsequently the Tre-K in both 899 and 1131 cc variants meant that Benelli
was truly back in the market of large capacity sports motorcycles. Today Benelli is part of the
Qianjiang (QJ) Group, a corporation which produces more than 1.2 million two wheelers per
annum. QJ, wishing to respect the tradition of passion which has always guided the history of the
Italian brand, will continue manufacturing bikes in Pesaro, the traditional home of Benelli
